Decade of Action in Lithuania
The launch of the Decade of Action for Road Safety in Lithuania took place at the International Exhibition for automobiles, transportation and logistics "ALT 2011", in Vilnius from 6 to 8 May 2011.
One of the biggest exhibitions for automobiles was held almost at the same time as the official Decade of Action launch and for this reason the Association of Lithuanian Automobilists (LAS) decided to participate at the exhibition where drivers (the main target group) could be approached.
The goals of the event were road safety advocacy, providing information about the Decade’s goals, and the promotion of the Decade’s yellow tag to the Lithuanian public.
A stand of 35 sq. m, with a crashed car inside it, reminded the public about safety and about the consequences of unsafe behaviour on roads. The broken car was a good starting point for discussions about the road safety situation in Lithuania.
Materials printed included brochures about the Decade of Action and crash tests were shown on a TV screen. As one of the aims of the LAS campaign is to encourage the use of child seats, children were invited to draw a bear – the symbol of the campaign. Visitors were invited to support the Decade of Action and add their signatures on a special poster “I support”.
