TODAY: Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (TTE) - Transport

On the first day the Ministers of Transport will meet for the second formal Council during the Czech Presidency. The meeting will be chaired by Czech Minister of Transport Gustáv Slamečka.

One of the main items on the agenda will be the debate and adoption of the Council conclusions on the future policy for the trans-European transport network.

Another important item is the debate on a proposal for a Regulation concerning a European rail network for competitive freight and a proposal for a Regulation on the rights of passengers in bus and coach transport.

The Ministers for Telecommunications will also meet today. The meeting will be chaired by Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Vladimír Tošovský.

On the agenda is, among other things, an exchange of views on the European network and information security policy and the Internet of Things – An action plan for Europe.

Telecommunications Ministers to meet in Luxembourg today

At the last meeting of the Telecommunications Council during the Czech EU Presidency the Ministers will exchange their views on the Europe’s network and information security policy. The Council’s agenda also includes an item on the Internet of Things – An action plan for Europe.

Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Vladimír Tošovský will chair the last meeting of the Ministers for Telecommunications during the Czech EU Presidency in Luxembourg today. The main point on the agenda is the discussion on the future of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and on the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP).

The European Commission will then inform of the upcoming action plan for the Internet of Things which allows for the development of new information services. The European Commission will also present information on the current state of the governance of the internet and on the upcoming changes in this sector. It will primarily focus on the domain name protection and the role of the governments in the internet governance.

After the closing of the formal agenda an informal discussion on the future of the Telecommunications Package will take place, to which the Ministers were invited by the President of the Telecommunications Council Vladimír Tošovský.
