Results of Road Signs Test presented to European Parliament

Publication date: 19 April 2005

Concerned that 91% of European motorists believe that harmonisation would lead to improved road safety, Dutch MEP Mrs Corien Wortmann-Kool in collaboration with Mr Ari Vatanen, MEP Rapporteur of a mid-term review on the European Commission’s Road Safety Action Plan, invited today the EuroTest platform (a partnership of 15 national motoring and touring organisations members of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile - FIA) to present their findings.

In general, road traffic signs systems in Europe are letting motorists down with potentially dangerous effects for road safety. EuroTest partners and motorist believe improvements can and must be undertaken if European citizens are to benefit from a credible road signing system that facilitates safe mobility.
