FIA Workshop on CO2 emissions from cars
Publication date: 12 July 2007
The automobile, the climate and the future Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas proposed last February that CO2 emissions from cars should be reduced to an average of 130 g/km by 2012. The European Commission has since started to consult stakeholders on the issue with the aim to draw up a proposal due in autumn.
The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the leading motoring organisation representing the interests of motoring and touring associations in Europe, and their 34 million members, would like to bring the following questions to debate:
· How will the proposal be achieved?
· How will the overall objective be shared between the manufacturers?
· What consequences will there be for the European car market?
In order to further the debate, the FIA is hosting a workshop gathering the main stakeholders to discuss their opinions and views. Invitees include representatives from the European Commission and Parliament as well as the industry, environmental organisations and user associations.
The workshop will be held in the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the European Union, rue Wiertz 77 in Brussels on 17th July 2007 from 12.50 to 14.30 h. Please find attached the draft agenda.
